Status 2000 on a Shared Code Is Not Necessarily Handset Delivery

SMS tracking looks delivered, but business reports say recipients did not receive messages.

Why it bites

For shared codes, Salesforce notes that delivery status in _SMSMessageTracking confirms delivery to the aggregator via status code 2000; delivery receipts are returned to the account that owns the code.

What to check
  1. Is the code private or shared?
  2. Are you the account that owns the shared code?
  3. Are you interpreting aggregator acceptance as final-device delivery?
Make it cheaper next time
  1. Document the delivery semantics of the code/account model in reporting.
  2. Avoid overclaiming delivery from the status field alone.
